About the beans. Kokoa Kamili is a cacao washing station in Tanzania's Kilombero Valley that buys wet beans from smallholder farmers at a premium and ferments and dries them centrally — which is why the quality is so consistent. Their cacao has been recognised repeatedly by the Cacao of Excellence Awards, the international programme that judges cacao at origin rather than finished chocolate, including Silver awards in 2021 and again in 2023 in the Women's Lot category.
